doula sophia with baby mason

“She wasn’t just a member of our birthing team, she was a beacon of light and knowledge and danced the dance of labor with me in a way that I could have only hoped for. I could not have had my baby, in such a beautiful way, without Sophia, and she will be our doula for all future babies.”

Please Note: I recently became licensed as a midwife, and am currently taking home birth clients as well as monatrice clients while I build my midwifery practice. Monatrice services are like midwifery services, prenatally and in labor up until the point of hospital transfer at which point I transition into doula mode while the client births in the hospital. Once the family returns home, I attend to the birthing parent and baby as a midwife, doing regular check-ups to safeguard the post partum period. Please contact me if you’re interested or have questions.

Hello! I’m Sophia, a licensed midwife, birth and post partum doula based out of Oakland, California, serving mamas in the East Bay,  San Francisco, and Marin Co. My goal is to help guide birthing people and their partners through this amazing transition,  acting as a constant support so that they may harness their full innate power in birth and have the beautiful and peaceful birth experience they desire and deserve. To find out more about my work as a doula, read about my Philosophy and Services here.

Note about the Art: My site is decorated with beautiful birth and mama inspired street art from places I have lived; most can be found the Mission District, San Francisco (Balmy Alley and the Women’s Building on 18th St) and Santa Cruz (Cowell College, UCSC).
